Red, Yellow and Green category in KSA – A bitter truth about Saudization!

Saudi Arabia has now defined 3 different categories for firms. Green, Yellow and Red. The private firms in Saudi Arab will be awarded these categories on their performance in employing Saudi’s. According to a rough estimate more than half million Saudi’s are unemployed and the number of legal expats working in private firms exceeds 8 million.

The firms that fall in Red category won’t be allowed to extend the work-visas of their expat employees whereas the firms falling in Green category will be allowed to do so. If a company wants to earn a green category status then it will have to maintain a rich percentage of Saudi employees in it. Otherwise it will fall into the red category.

This step is taken to intensify Saudization in KSA and help the Saudi youth in seeking employment. A few months back minimum salary of Saudi’s was set SR. 3000/- by the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah. Well it is good news for Saudis but not for the firms and expats there in KSA.

According to Human Resource Experts and Psychiatrists an average Saudi is Dull and of Bossy nature. They take 3 to 7 times more time than an average Asian Expat to understand a task and perform it with perfection. They are not team players and lack the passion which is needed in young job seekers. Apart from all this the communication skills of an average Saudi job seeker are very poor even if he is a graduate. Expats are good in communication and more honest towards their work. Whereas Saudis disturb the workplace environment and lack sense of responsibility in them.

This new category system will create severe problems for private firms in Saudi Arabia. They will lose skilled employees when replacing Expats with the Saudis, will face tough time in profit making and at the end the work environment of the firm will be disturbed a lot. Well whatever we say these rules defined by KSA to intensify Saudization are going to be implemented soon. Therefore, firms must move to Dubai to enjoy a better workforce and Expats should also find a job in Dubai.
